Dear Voters,
My name is Mark Qualls and I am running for Hickman County Mayor. My wife, Tammie and I have been married for 14 years. I have 5 children Jacob, Kalynn, Alec, Dylan and Daisey. To say I have a vested interest in our county is an understatement.
I am a third generation Hickman Countian. My parents, Lonnie and Marie Qualls devoted over 50 years combined to Levi Strauss before the company shut down the Centerville factory. I remember a very vibrant community containing numerous factories and plentiful of good jobs during that time.
I have a plan to keep the small town charm and cultivate our county to be prosperous by attracting good jobs and outside investments into our county. As a local businessman with a leadership background, I have the qualifications and experience to provide as an asset to our local government. I have spent 15 years in the business realm turning around companies for Battleground Enterprises, LLC, my BS degree is in Management and Organizational Development (Magna Cum Laude), and I have also extensively studied in local and state government. Since 2016, I have absorbed myself with our local government to gain knowledge of what has occurred historically, what is current, and the direction we need to take to improve for our future by research, attending and recording meetings to promote transparency, observing the gaps, and speaking on behalf of our Hickman County Citizens.
Something that I feel very passionate about is that our County needs to create a Comprehensive Master Plan. This would be our compass and goals for 5,10,15,20, and 30 year objective benchmarks. I believe having a plan is vital for long term progress. This plan would include property zoning and future infrastructure development.
I want to cultivate a local government that has a vision and a plan for our future. My plan is to keep the small town charm while promoting opportunities for better jobs, industry and more affordable housing. Hickman County should not only be a place we call home, but also be the melting pot for shopping, recreation and entertainment, and employment to keep our tax dollars in the county to benefit our citizens.
I have enjoyed meeting and speaking with many of you as I have begun my campaign. I look forward to meeting many more of you and learning about your vision to make Hickman County the best county in this great state of Tennessee.
As a local businessman and community servant, it is my hope that you will come out and support your county government by voting for me, Mark D. Qualls as your next Hickman County Mayor. My experience has led me to this opportunity, and I look forward to working for you!
